20 random facts about me

(I really need to cut my fringe!)

1. I have quite a big family, I'm one of five children & I'm the eldest!

2. I'm a bit of a fussy eater, I love spaghetti hoops but I can't eat normal spaghetti... different food textures scare me. Over the past few years I've become more willing to try new things though.

3. My little sister lives in Chelsea & one day we joked about going to stalk celebs, only to see Millie Mackintosh walking along Kings Road! I completely freaked out & was a little star struck... much to the embarrassment of my sister, ooops!

4. I got all my housemates addicted to painting their nails & we currently have a nail polish stash in our kitchen.

5. I am completely obsessed with pugs, I spend hours watching YouTube videos or researching about them online, I don't know what it is but I just love love love them. Dom & I have agreed to get one as soon as we move in together, this is possibly the greatest plan EVER!

6. I absolutely LOVE living in London, I think I am incredibly lucky to have the opportunity to study & live here. I struggled at the start but now I can't picture myself being anywhere else! I'm also the only person I know who likes travelling on the tube!

7. Risotto is probably my favorite meal ever, I'm forever cooking it, it's just tooo gooood.

8. I'm pretty much glued to my phone. I'm one of those annoying people who couldn't live without their iPhone!

11. I don't like studying in my bedroom or at home in general, I much prefer to be a library geek.

12. I'm always cold, I really struggle to keep warm!

13. 13 is my lucky number, although most people believe it's unlucky!

14. I've been with Dom for five years in August. We met when we were only 16 & became best friends. I truly believe that the most important thing to maintain a relationship is to have your own life as well as a life together.

15. If I eat something with a spoon it has to be a "baby" spoon. I can't eat with tablespoons it has to be a teaspoon, I just physically can't eat from a bigger spoon it makes me feel sick. I'm odd I know.

16. I can't gain weight. I've literally been stuck at the same weight for years now & everything I've tried just doesn't work for me.

17. I always wear flicked black eyeliner, I'm so used to doing it now if I don't put it on I feel weird!

revlon lip butters | peach parfait & raspberry pie

(Currently on offer at Boots for £5!)

Revlon lip butters have been really popular with beauty bloggers over the past year & I can completely see why! A wide range of pretty colours are available & even the packaging is cute with it's slightly frosted yet matte design, with the colour matching the shade of the actual product. The formula is 'butter' soft, making it very easy to apply & feels really moisturising on the lips, a massive bonus for somebody like me who suffers from awfully chapped lips! It's almost as if I'm applying & wearing a lip balm when I use them. The lip butters are also great for being able to build up colour, especially with the darker shades, depending on what kind of look you are after.

Raspberry Pie is a deep berry pink, with no shimmer. Personally I think Raspberry Pie is a great product for during the day as it's really quick to apply yet I can still achieve a dark lip & if you know me you'll know I'm a fan of darker lips!

Peach Parfait is an apricot orange with tiny flecks of gold shimmer. I picked this shade up as I've always wanted to try out an orange lip, but I don't think it will suit me so this muted orange tone is ideal! The colour pay off is very light with this shade & mainly consists of shimmer with a slight peachy tone. I don't find myself reaching for this shade as often as I thought I would, although it is still a really pretty lip product I do tend to be more daring with my lipstick colours!

Do you have any Revlon Lip Butters? What is your favourite shade?

brick lane haul

Levi Shorts - £18 | Baby blue jumper - £18 | Tartan blazer - £24

On Saturday Dom & I popped to Brick Lane as I wanted to have a little look in some of the shops. Whenever I go with my friends or sister they always end up finding some beautiful gems & I decided it was about time I stopped being lazy & actually had a proper root through to see what was hiding away! I went into a few shops along the way, whilst heading for Beyond Retro. At first I was ridiculously disappointed with Beyond Retro, but I am so so glad I gave it a second chance & had another look. When I laid my eyes on the tartan blazer I knew it had to be mine, I've wanted one for so long but missed out on the River Island one. I tried it on straight away & although it's a little big on the arms it's my favourite thing ever! I know it's probably not to everyones taste, but it looks much better in real life & I think it'll be so handy for spring/summer when it's warmer & there is no need for a proper coat (thats if we get a decent summer this year!). Dom then suggested looking at the 50% off rail, which I thought would be full of rubbish but he picked out the cute baby blue jumper for me & as it was only £10 I couldn't leave it behind! My aim of visiting Brick Lane was to buy some new denim shorts as my old ones have shrunk & too much bum cheek is visible... Beyond Retro didn't have much choice so I headed to Blitz which is another huge vintage store & I was lucky enough to find the Levi 501's in not only the colour I've been after but also my size! I was told I'd struggle to find smaller sizes on Brick Lane as they sell fast! Blitz seem to always have 10% off if you present a flyer to them when purchasing & you're pretty much guaranteed to be given one whilst walking down Brick Lane! I thought £18 was a really good price for Levi high waisted shorts as I paid £30 for a pair of the Topshop version a few years ago & on eBay they often sell for alot more.

Have you ever been to Brick Lane before? What are your favourite vintage finds!?

Bowler Hat - ASOS | Boyfriend Coat - Missguided | Jumper - Topshop | Jeans - Topshop | Spiked Shoes - Sheinside | Bag - Zara | Lipstick - Topshop 'Beguiled'

First outfit post of 2013 & to be honest, the first one in ageeeees! Outfit posts are my favourite but I always struggle to get decent photos in my room & have to wait until I can make my boyfriend snap some shots of me haha, thanks Dom (:

I got this coat last year for only £30, I'd been after a similar version in Topshop but it was way over £100 so when I found this one my Mum got it for my birthday. I'm forever wearing my bowler hat at the moment, I prefer it to a bobble hat as it doesn't get soggy with all the snow & rain! I bought my first pair of jeans in years after hearing lots of good things about the Topshop Leigh jeans, I love how skinny they fit, it really annoys me when 'skinny jeans' are baggy. They're really comfy too, considering they're quite tight fitting & I even have a pair of primark super cosy tights on underneath, I don't feel trapped! I was lucky enough to win my spiked shoes when Kim held a giveaway for $100 to spend at Sheinside waaaay back in August & I've yet to show them on my blog! Whenever I wear them I either get strange looks or told they're amazing & I should probably stop pretending to kick people with them because I'm going to end up actually kicking someone one day & it'd be pretty painful! They're quite furry though so I've swapped into my Chelsea boots to walk to uni in, that way then don't get soggy from the snowy pavements!

I am absolutely loving the snowfall in London, I'm like a little kid, I always get so so excited when it snows! It has even made the grim little area I live in quite pretty, snow makes everything so much nicer!  I've been playing in the snow all morning, taking photos with my housemates & throwing snowballs at each other, Dom included, in fact Dom started the fight, meanie! I'm now heading to the library to study for a bit as I've been so distracted by the snow all weekend I've done nothing... tonight we will be at spoons having our usual Sunday evening burger & drink deal! Yesterday I went to Brick Lane for browse & ended up buying a few things which I'll do a little post on tomorrow.

Hope you're all having fun in the snow & keeping safe!

soap & glory smoothie star deep moisture body milk

Smoothie Star has got to be my favourite from the Best of All gift set I received at Christmas. It's probably the scent that completely wins me over, as I'm a true lover of anything cocoa buttery! Although it is a sweet smelling moisturiser I don't find it overpowering or too sickly.  The body milk is filled with almond, cocoa, yogurt, oat & honey, all good stuff for your skin, especially the oats & honey. It features the waterlock moisture trapping matrix allowing me to keep my skin hydrated and soft. I use this everyday after a shower as it's quick to apply due to its light formula meaning it doesn't take ages to soak in, but my skin is still left feeling dewy. I think this is the perfect lazy girl moisturiser, a few pumps slathered all over and you're ready to go, so much easier than faffing around with a thick body butter!

Have you tried Smoothie Star body milk?

wednesday wishlist #8

one | two | three | four | five | six | seven | eight

Pug iPhone 4 case: After seeing Becky's post I knew I needed this case in my life, the only downside to it is the price!

Gold tone cross bracelet: I have a necklace similar to this & I don't tend to wear much on my wrists apart from my new Michael Kors watch.

Clarins Instant Smooth Perfecting Touch: Another product I'm lusting after thanks to the blogger hype, I've always wanted to achieve a completely flawless look & from what I've heard I think this is the product for me...

Petite leather look skater skirt: I've been looking out for a pleather skirt for ages now, I have even bought a few only to return them when I've tried them on & realised they fit awful. Topshop petite always seems to fit me well & I'd love to wear this with a chunky jumper tucked in & my studded flats.

Real Techniques setting brush: Recently I invested in a MAC mineralize skin finish & already own almost all of the RT collection it'd be the perfect excuse to pick up this little brush!

T-bar stud pointed shoes: I'm forever looking out for cute little flats I can wear during the day but also in the evening if I'm going out for dinner or to a party. These are definitely ideal & I also love the nude version too!

Cath Kidston Provence Rose cushion: This would look adorable on my bed, I love being all cosy with loads of cushions & blankets, plus provence rose is one of my favourite CK designs (:

NARS Sheer Glow Foundation: I really don't need to own another foundation but I tested this whilst I was in SpaceNK the other day & loved the formula, feel & finish to it.

MAC ruby woo lipstick

MAC Ruby Woo - £14

MAC Ruby Woo is a blue toned red lipstick with a matte finish. My sister picked this up for me as a birthday present, I left her to choose as I'm way too indecisive & I'm so happy with her selection! I am forever wearing either dark or red lips so this is a great colour to add to my collection as I know I'll get a lot of wear from it. As Ruby Woo is from the matte range I was a little worried I'd struggle to apply it as my lips aren't in the best of conditions! However I make sure I use my LUSH popcorn lip scrub & apply lip balm before application which makes life a bit easier! Although it's not the easiest lipstick to use, the colour pay off & wear time really makes up for it, I don't find myself having to touch up as often as I do with others. I definitely can see this becoming my go to red lipstick, as it's the perfect shade!

What do you think of the matte formula? Have you tried MAC's Ruby Woo before?

my 21st birthday

Pretty cupcakes | Chocolate fudge Strawberry cake Mum made | Main birthday cake
Cupcake canvas & pug cushion | Beautiful Michael Kors watch from Dom <3 | "Laura's Locket" from my Nana & Grandad

Spent some of my birthday money at Topshop, Boots & the Origins counter!

I turned 21 on January 3rd & thought I'd share a few photos from my day. I didn't want a huge party or anything crazy, I'd hate all that attention! On my actual birthday I had a little tea party with my family, along with Doms too. My Mum had been super busy baking lots of birthday treats for me, including a tasty chocolate cake surrounded by chocolate fingers & decorated with Strawberries, mmm. As a surprise she also ordered me a cake, accompanied by 25 cupcakes, safe to say I've eaten a ridiculous amount of cake over the past few days! In the evening my Dad arrived back from Turkey, as he had promised me, so he took my brother, sister, Dom & myself to Nandos. I continued my birthday celebrations when I returned to London & on Friday night I had a party with my flat mates, which got a little embarassing when they sang singing happy birthday & made me blow out 21 candles in front of lots of drunk people, thanks guys! It was really fun though & so many of my favourite people turned up (: Yesterday was spent being hungover, going out for breakfast & having a walk round London with Dom & a few of our best friends. We also nipped into Harrods to admire all the luxury products I can only dream of ever purchasing & to see the cute little puppies & kittens in pet world! Finally, in the evening we all chipped in & bought supplies for Nachos & Chicken Fajitas & cooked a huge feast. Dom is taking me to Edinburgh in the Easter holidays, as we decided we would have more time then & it should hopefully be a bit warmer! I'm glad I've had lots of little celebrations with different people rather than one massive event. I had the nicest birthday & I still have a few more little things to look forward to!

LUSH popcorn lip scrub

LUSH Popcorn Lip Scrub - (£5.25, it's currently half price though!)

I was surprised to find this in my stocking on Christmas day as I didn't think I'd mentioned to Dom that I'd really like this, but he picked it up for me anyway! I suffer from really chapped lips, so this product is literally a godsend for me. I gently scrub it on until most of it disappears, which removes the dry skin, gives my lips a healthier colour & leaves them feeling soft. I personally think the scrub smells better than it tastes, as it is quite buttery & also a little salty, although don't get me wrong, I still think it's absolutely delicious! I always use this before I apply lipstick to improve the appearance of my lips & to make application a bit easier. The packaging is lovely, a cute little glass jar which can be put in your handbag if your lips are in need of some extra care!

Have you tried a LUSH lip scrub? What is your favourite flavour?

my top 12 of 2012

I clearly can't count & included 13 items... so pretend the lipsticks count as one! & also I really hate these photos but they were the best of the bunch! I can't wait to get back to using my camera...

MUA Undressed Palette - I'm not actually a massive fan of eyeshadows & don't wear it much, but this little palette has been great for creating a smokey eye for a night out or special occasion. Its only £4 & supposedly a dupe for the Urban Decay Naked palette & as much as I'd love to own it I know I wouldn't get my use out of it so I'm happy with the Undressed palette for now!

Revlon PhotoReady Foundation - This year I finally found a foundation that matched my skin tone pretty well. Being super pale I always struggled & always mixed in a moisturiser to achieve a better colour.

Topshop Lipstick in Beguiled - My favourite Autumn/Winter shade, I wore it so much, along with Inhibition but Beguiled wins as it's more of a wine shade rather than plum which I feel suits me better.
MUA Lipstick Shade 1 - 2012 was certainly the year I became more confident with wearing bold lips & stepped out of my comfort zone, which I am so so glad I did! MUA lipsticks are perfect for trying out shades you're not sure you will suit as they're super cheap at only £1. The wear time is not the greatest, I have to re-apply quite regularly but they're highly pigmented, apply really well & even smell nice!

Maybelline Master Drama Kohl Eyeliner - My flatmate Sam told me about this eyeliner & let me swatch hers because she was so excited about it & knew I would be impressed. It always annoys me when a kohl eyeliner isn't black enough, but this didn't let me down with the colour pay off! It's silky soft too so doesn't feel like I'm dragging the pencil across my eyes either unlike some other eyeliners I've tried. It also reminded me a little of the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen which I've swatched literally millions of times whenever I see it in Boots but never actually bought it because its £9! Although I've just seen its half price so I'll be picking one of those up asap!

Collection Lasting Perfection Concealer - Another very popular product with so many beauty bloggers & I completely appreciate why! My little sister has used this for years & when I tried it well over a year ago I loved how well it covered up my under eye circles & other imperfections.

Sleek Rose Gold Blush - My favourite blush ever! I never thought I would move away from my pink blushers but after spying this on the shelf in Superdrug I decided to pick it up & I've never looked back since. It adds just the right amount of shimmer & gives me a healthy glow.

Liz Earle Hot Cloth Cleanser - Late to the scene with this product, but I've been such a poor student the past year I never got round to buying it, in fact I still haven't bought it yet! I got the sample with RED magazine & have used it every few days for the past few months & really liked how good it is at removing my makeup & leaving my skin nice & clean!

REN Vita Mineral Day Cream - This is such a lovely moisturiser, it's the perfect consistency so it's easy to apply over my face & within a couple of minutes my skin is soft & ready for my makeup. I've almost used this travel sized version up now, I'll be investing in the full size very soon.

Soap & Glory Hand Food Hand Cream - I always have a mini of these in my handbag, plus a full size which I keep next to my bed! I have such dry skin around my nails from my anxiety issue because I always pick them (sorry grim I know!) & these cream really helps soothe the skin. It also has the typical Soap & Glory scent!

Essie Polish in Mint Candy Apple - My very first Essie polish, I caved when nobody would stop going on about how amazing it was! I wore this an awful awful lot over the Summer months & it's also amazing with glitter polishes on top. I'm looking forward to seeing what Essie have to offer for 2013!

LUSH Snow Fairy Shower Gel - I'm not sure I need to explain my love for this product anymore, I've shown it on my blog a few times & it's quite safe to say I am OBSESSED!

Real Techniques Buffing Brush - How I ever applied my foundation before I owned this brush, I really don't know!

It was quite easy for me to pick this selection as I only have a small amount of products with me whilst I'm home for the Christmas holidays.
What are your beauty favourites from 2012?
