Reading blogs is one of my favourite things to do in an evening when I'm tucked up in bed. It's nice to be able to switch off from the days thoughts & absorb all things beauty, fashion & lifestyle. There are quite a few blogs I regularly check back on, even if they don't have a new post that day I will head over to their blog to scroll through the archives! I already did a blog love post a while back featuring a few blogger babes so I thought I'd share a few more again!
P.s I'm sorry for the lack of blog posts recently & also for this 'short but sweet' post, life is hectic, hopefully it will calm down soon so I can get back on track with my little blog! Don't forget to enter my giveaway here though! Seems you're all pretty obsessed with the Marc Jacob Mini Perfumes too & thank you so much for the lovely comments on my Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipstick review!
Bourjois are a brand that I find myself going back to more & more recently, with their Rice Powder being in my top drugstore powders & the Chocolate Bronzer being the first bronzer to ever touch my pale cheeks I've got a lot of trust in the brand when it comes to trying out new products! They seem to be my main go to brand when it comes to bases & I haven't really dipped into any of their lip product offerings until there was recently a 3 for 2 which provided me with the perfect opportunity. I already had a Bourjois foundation & powder in my basket so it made sense to choose a lipstick & try something new & this is when I welcomed the Rough Edition Velvet lipstick in the shade 'Grand Cru' into my life.
I'm all about the berry tones when it comes to lip products so when I noticed it on the shelves I knew it was the shade for me. When applied it's definitely more of a pink toned berry colour rather than the usual purple hues found in berry shades but in my opinion this just makes it more wearable as purple lipsticks can sometimes be a bit harsh for an everyday makeup look! It can be built up though to create a stronger, more vampy appearance. It goes on as though it is a lip gloss yet has the same staying power as a matte lipstick but manages to avoid that dry feeling matte products can have. It's the smoothest, softest lip product I've ever worn & I can see why Bourjois popped the word Velvet into it's name!
Have you tried any of the Bourjois Rouge Edition Velvet Lipsticks?
There is nothing I love more than a miniature version of my favourite products (okay, maybe I exaggerated a little but I do have a whole lotta love for teeny tiny products!) Marc Jacob perfumes are some of my favourites, with Honey & Daisy being two scents that I know I'll always have in my collection. When Dom's Dad arrived home from Greece & presented me with this little gift set of four MJ perfumes I couldn't stop smiling, firstly because how lovely of him to bring me such a nice gift home & secondly because the bottles are so so cute! They are tiny & when I say tiny I really mean it like smaller than you're probably imagining right now. The little bottles each adorned with a decorative lid to represent their scents are the perfect size to pop in your handbag. I always worry about carrying a full sized perfume bottle around in my bag, incase it gets ruined or even leaks & sometimes a spritz of body spray doesn't quite cut it when you've been travelling around lots or had a long day at work. It's always nice to be able to wear a favourite perfume when you need a little refresh! It's also nice to have options, I'm forever throwing the same perfume/body spray into my bag but now I can switch it up more often. Another perk to this pocket sized perfume set is that you don't need to commit to buying a bottle of perfume to then discover it's completely different to when you drenched yourself in it at the department store/Boots/wherever you go perfume shopping! With these little minis you can experiment to see which one you prefer wearing. I'm still obsessing over how cute the bottles are, I love that they literally are a shrunk down version of the full sized ones with the embellished lids, clear glass bottle & pretty packaging! The downside? It seems that they're only available from Duty Free!
Little Tilly pug has been quite a poorly pup this week. Unfortunately she has had an eye ulcer which has caused her a lot of pain so she had to be sedated at the vets for them to properly examine it & check there were no underlying issues. Thankfully it's only a really small ulcer & today we got the good news that it's healing really well! I've been spending my mornings off work snuggling her on the sofa & ensuring she has everything she wants, including allowing her to eat her din dins on the sofa on my knee! After her sedation she was so so sooo sleepy & confused, it was kinda cute but I felt so sorry for her! She's had some of her fur shaved off her neck & her front leg too, bless her but hopefully it will grow back quickly. It was heartbreaking having to leave her behind at the vets on Monday morning, I'm such an overprotective puppy mummy, anyone who has a dog will know what I mean though! She's back to her usual self now, being a complete madam & running riot round the house but I am so glad I've got my little hyper Tilly pug back!
She's been playing with her "Uncle Cloud" the Husky today, it's hilarious seeing them together because of the size difference but they love each other so much!
Another Wednesday, another wishlist! After reading Helen's blog earlier (you should all go check her out if you don't already, her style is incredible & her recipe posts make me crave allllll of the cake!) & when I noticed the tortoiseshell sunglasses I pretty much fell in love & now I really need them, totally acceptable to buy sunglasses at the end of Summer right? Also it would be kinda rude to not take advantage of the 25% student discount promo ASOS have on! Another blogger influenced item I really need in my life are the Maybelline Color Drama Intense Velvet Lip Pencils after seeing them on Kate's blog & Instagram. In fact I actually took a detour home to pop in to Boots & pick up a couple to then be disappointed when my local store didn't stock them! Absolutely typical the one time I decide to treat myself (it's been a while - saving... ZzzzZz) & I couldn't find what I wanted! After spending the entire week admiring the polish on my nails it's confirmed that the next polish purchase I shall be making will be OPI's Malaga Wine, the perfect shade for Autumn. I had my nails done at the South Beach Blogger Event & I am so so glad I asked the nail technician for the name of the polish I'd chosen!
I've been trying to hunt down a nice pair of ripped knee skinny jeans after since I came across the Whistles Maysa Jeans, however £95 is not in my price range at the moment & probably never will be... so when I found a pair for a third of the price I couldn't resist! ASOS's take on the ripped skinny jeans are almost identical to the Whistles pair, feeling quite proud of myself for locating a dupe! A black leather skirt would be such a classic piece for the Autumn months & I obviously need an adorable jumper to keep warm in too! The doughnut clutch bag is something I really, really love but would probably never ever use... does anyone else just buy something because of it's cute appeal!? I need to get out of that habit!
Last Wednesday I was invited to attend Hale Country Club & Spa to view South Beach's newest collection & spend the day relaxing & being pampered. It was my first blogger event that I actually attended, the opportunity to have a spa day was too good to resist & as it was reasonably close to home I decided to push myself & go along. I am so so glad I forced myself to go & although I was really shy & felt quite nervous I had such a nice day & everyone was so lovely! The day started off by having a tasty mocktail & a cute cupcake followed by an introduction to South Beach's current & future swimwear, loungewear & fitness range. We then had the chance to take lots of photos & choose our favourite piece, there are so many amazing designs & lots of styles to suit different body types. We spent a while snapping photographs & rummaging through our goodie bags before heading down to the changing rooms to get into our new swimwear & super soft fluffy robes. The morning was spent splashing about in the heated outdoor pool & jacuzzi, taking photos on underwater cameras & non stop chatting about all things blogging.
Then lunchtime rolled around & I had decided to take a risk & opt for the Sushi, I'm a newbie when it comes to Sushi so I wasn't sure if I was going to like it but oh my god it was the yummiest meal I'd ever eaten! For dessert I had a Chocolate & Pistachio Brownie & again I was in food heaven!
After lunch we went into the spa to use the sauna rooms & infinity pool. I have never felt so relaxed in my life, I genuinely felt like I was away on holiday, not 10 minutes away from the city centre of Manchester! To finish off the day I was treated to an OPI manicure, a lovely way to end such a lovely event.
I can't thank South Beach enough for inviting me along to such an incredible event, I had the most chilled out day ever & I want to repeat it all over again! & thank you so much to Hale Country Club & Spa for allowing us to spend the day there, I will almost certainly be back in the near future for another day of relaxation & pampering!
My little blog recently hit 1500 followers on Bloglovin' & I am over the moon with this milestone! In celebration of reaching it I've put together a small selection of beauty products that I hope you guys like! It's my way of being able to say thanks for reading & supporting my little space on the internet. It still amazes me that anyone other than my mum reads this blog, so thank you! I've also got a couple of really loyal readers, who's names I see popping up in the comments on most posts which is the nicest thing ever & I love that I have people who return to my tiny corner of the big world wide web!
My pretty new dress from wonderlandclothing.com - the girls who run this online shop are complete babes & they sell the cutest clothes - go check 'em out!
The blogger spa day itinerary & the cutest party ring cupcake which was delish!
Little Tilly pug has been quite poorly this week & has been clinging to me like a baby, sometimes I forget she's a dog!
This week has been one of those strange ones, where one day you feel insanely happy & the next you revert to your old emo kid self. Lets not dwell on the sad stuff too much though, I'm all about trying to promote positive mental attitude even through the tough times! One highlight of my week was attending my first ever blogger event in Manchester on Wednesday. I was invited to go along to Hale Country Day Spa for a day of relaxation, pampering & getting an exclusive look at South Beach's newest collection! I'm going to do a full type up of the day really soon, but one thing I will say to any of you bloggers out there who are umming & ahhing over going to a blogger event, is to just go for it! I'm no good with meeting new people, my shyness overcomes me in the most severe amount & my anxiety drains my confidence but I decided to power through those feelings & face my fear. And I'm so glad I did! I also got to see some of my family for the first time in ages, literally it's been at least a year & it was the best, I don't think I've ever laughed so much! It really made me realise how fab my family are & that I definitely need to spend more time with them (:
Continuing on with my home decor ideas series I thought this time I'd turn to office/workspace inspiration. I'd love to have a spare room that could be used as my little office space where I could spend time focusing on my blog & generally getting my life organised! We are currently still house hunting but we've sorta made it an unofficial priority to try & find a property with enough space to accommodate some form of a "blogging area" for me & an office for Dom. We are both continuously glued to our laptops/pc's with Dom working in IT & being a huge techie geek & myself running this little blog along with going back to uni we both really crave a space to let our creativity run free! Again, I've got a thing for white, clean looking decor & would probably paint the entire room/space white & let the accessories & furniture do the talking. I'd love some sort of bookcase so that we could display all of our books on nicely but also house little trinkets that we've collected throughout our relationship. I'd also really like to get my hands on some artwork, I'm not really sure what but I like the idea of having a wall full of different images & quotes.
Applying eyeshadow has become the favourite part of my makeup routine, experimenting with different colours & techniques is my idea of fun, I'm no expert but I've been playing around & seeing what looks I can achieve. I've recently been using the Flawless palette from Makeup Revolution, a brand I have quickly fallen in love with after trying out a few of their products! The palette contains 32 eyeshadow shades, ranging from both shimmer & matte finishes, I'd describe it as a neutral palette with a bit of a twist, the seasonal shades such as the berry & olive colours & the midnight blue shade compliment the more 'typical' neutrals so well. The shadows are housed in a sleek glossy, black palette that contains a large mirror inside, a handy extra especially when you travel around lots like me! For the price of the palette I expected the pigmentation to be pretty average, however I was pleasantly surprised when I first swatched them to find they were extremely pigmented from just one touch. They apply & blend as well as a high end eyeshadow would, making them a joy to use. Theres none of that chalky feeling or dragging across the lids & theres only minimal fall out too.
The palette is filled with lots of beautiful bronzes & shimmery golden shades. I love a good neutrals palette & this one is no exception. I've been using a variety of the shimmery shades daily to create my usual eye makeup, there are so many to choose from I've been switching it up & trying out new colours each time.
Some of the shades in the palette are perfect Autumnal colours which I'm looking forward to wearing. The two berry shades are stunning & actually reminded me of MAC's Cranberry Eyeshadow which I'd been considering buying for A/W so I'm glad I've got a much cheaper alternative to use instead! The Olive shade is also a great colour for the Autumn months & I can imagine it really suiting my hazel eyes. With so many shades to choose from there is definitely plenty of options for all skin tones & eye colours, I certainly feel spoilt for choice each time I open the palette! If you're looking to add an eyeshadow palette into your life then I cant recommend this one enough!
I've also done an introduction to Makeup Revolution post which can be found here & I've reviewed the super pretty Blush & Contour Palette in Sugar & Spice here! Let me know what you think of this palette? Will you be picking up this palette anytime soon?
In July I wrote a post focusing on those moments that are usually forgotten about as quick as they happened & I had such a lovely response with so many of you agreeing with me! It helped me to feel much more positive about my life, things aren't ideal at the moment & I think it's really important to be able to recognise the nice bits of your day/week/month. It's so easy to get caught up in life itself that often the 'little things' go unnoticed or the memories get lost in everything else thats going on. Taking time to document a few things every now & again is a positive experience that I'm keen to continue with!
- Catching the train to Liverpool with Tilly pug to meet Dom after work so he didn't have the long drive home by himself for once!
- Having my nails done professionally, for the first time in well over a year.
- When Tilly buried her head into my shoulder for a cuddle & refused to move I pretty much died from a cute overload!
- Talking to Dom about our future & feeling incredibly excited
- Sitting in Starbucks with my Sister typing up blog posts
- Overcoming my fear of meeting new people & attending my first blogger event, perhaps this isn't really a little thing but I thought it was worth mentioning as I felt kinda proud of myself!
- Driving through the countryside, with my favourite songs blasting & the sun shining
- Taking my baby Sister to Lush to pick out some bath bombs for her birthday
- Helping Doms mum prepare the evening meals whilst Doms dad is away (:
- Reminiscing about the time I lived in London & all the amazing places I explored!
I'm so excited for Autumn to arrive now, I love wrapping up warm in oversized coats & knitted jumpers, I feel like dressing for A/W is much more 'me'. I have a bit of a thing for boyfriend coats, Oversized Check Coat would be the perfect piece to add a bit of pattern into my wardrobe. I always opt for plain clothing & block colours but I really need/want to find some statement pieces for the Winter. Speaking of pattern, I stumbled across two pretty patterned pieces on the Topshop website. I love the floral skirt SO much, it's a busy print but would look incredible with a white shirt, the way Topshop have styled it is the way I wish I dressed! The khaki dress is also super pretty & an ideal colour for the Autumn months, don't think I can justify £55 on it though wah! Another reason Autumn & Winter are my favourite seasons is how cosy everything can be. It's so nice lighting some candles, putting on a movie & wrapping up in a blanket with a mug of tea/coffee/hot chocolate whilst it's freezing outside! I'd love to splurge on a Jo Malone candle, maybe when we move into our new home (which we are still trying to find, why is house hunting such a nightmare!) I can treat myself to a little housewarming gift! I'm in need of some more notebooks, as most bloggers are I am a huge fan of writing lists & I even find myself making lists of lists. The Rifle Paper ones are so lovely, does anyone know where I can get them in the UK? I did see Louise Instagram a photo of them which kinda sparked my interest in them! Whenever I see a pug related item I always feel the need to buy it, or at least share it on the Pug Facebook groups I am a member off, I know I am a crazy Pug lady but who can resist the adorable Pug coin purse from ASOS!? There seems to be a lot of hype around the NARS Creamy Concealer which has now joined NARS Sheer Glow Foundation on my extremely long beauty wishlist!
Another month has come to an end meaning another monthly favourites post is due! With a lot of my beauty products still stuck in boxes (the joys of going from living in my own flat to being back in my old room at my parents!) I've been limited to a certain selection of items until we move again & I have space to store everything properly. When I packed up the flat I made sure I kept my most loved products in a separate box from my stash of all things beauty to try & make my life a little easier.
One product I knew I absolutely couldn't live without was the YSL Touche Eclat Foundation. Whenever I'm feeling unhappy with my skin I always use it to perk up my complexion, it illuminates my skin in all the right place & is everything I look for in a base product. The next two products are both from MAC, Satin Taupe Eyeshadow & the 217 Blending Brush, together these two are a dream duo. Satin Taupe is a shade that really compliments my eye colour, I find it wearable for everyday as a wash of colour all over my lids but I also like using it to create a smokey eye look too. The 217 is a tool every girl needs in their brush collection, I don't know how I ever applied eyeshadow without it, all I know is it must have looked an absolute mess! It's pricey, but so so worth it! I never really stay loyal to a mascara, until Soap & Glory's Thick & Fast Mascara made it's way into my life a couple of Christmas's ago. I usually pick up whatever is on offer but I've really noticed a difference whenever I've used this one. It defines my eyelashes without the effort of having to apply layers upon layers & it doesn't flake or crumble away during the day either. Another Soap & Glory product has made it's way into my favourites this month, the Scrub Of Your Life, the reason I like this so much is because not only does it exfoliate my skin really well, I find it very convenient! Most scrubs are stored in a pot with a screw lid & I find it annoying to use them in the shower as they fill up with water so easily. I like that I can simply squirt a blob of this out & scrub it all over my legs etc without having to try put a lid back & worry about water getting in & ruining the product! My final favourite is the EOS Lemon Drop Lip Balm which my lovely friend Abi gave me when she came to stay at my flat in June! I have 100's of lip balms (not literally but you know what I mean!) & I'm forever chucking different ones into my handbag & changing them about but this one has found itself stuck in my handbag makeup bag. The best thing about it is the flavour, it tastes exactly like Sherbet Lemon sweeties & the taste actually stays on your lips for quite a while! I want to pick up the Sweet Mint flavour next time, I saw them displayed in Selfridges the other week & had to resist buying them all simply because I thought they looked so cute next to each other!
Mini versions of my favourite products are one of my weaknesses, I love how cute they are & the fact that I can pop them in my bag without having to worry about space issues takes the stress out of travelling slightly!
Moroccanoil Oil is an essential in my haircare routine, it's really helped get my hair back into a reasonably healthy condition & I couldn't live without it now. Having a miniature bottle of it is ideal for someone like me who currently lives between 3 different houses, I always have a bag packed & it's nice to know I can carry around my favourite haircare items. I've used the Moroccanoil Shampoo & Conditioner in the past, they're such a treat but I can always see a difference when I use them to wash my hair. The Moisture Repair range is formulated to infuse your hair with argan oil, fatty acids, keratin & other nutrients to restore your hairs health & leave it soft, shiny & full of volume. The mini can of hairspray not only holds hair in place it also enhances the shine, so my hair looks healthy! The formula is really light weight so it doesn't create that awful sticky & crispy feeling but still holds the style in place. I'm forever chucking this little can of hairspray into my handbag whenever I'm off out for the day, it's one of the handbag essentials!
This little travel set is the perfect bundle of Moroccanoil products to pack in your suitcase if you're jetting off anywhere, or if you're just like me & travel around a lot! It's also ideal if you haven't tried anything from Moroccanoil before & want to test out a couple of things before splurging on the full sized product!
