Recently all I've been thinking about is booking a holiday & whilst I can't do that just yet, I can get ready for Summer with Yves Rochers latest release! For this new collection Yves Rocher have used the best botanical properties to create an exciting and innovative Summer range. They are a brand passionate about being botanical & even have their own botanical garden in La Gacilly where they grow 1100 species of plants which are used in their products. Along with having a passion for everything botanic they are committed to ethical product development and focus on natural ingredients. They sell their products in 88 countries Worldwide and have 30 million customers!
To start with, the Delicate Cleansing Cream* (RRP £6.90) is a non-foaming shampoo which protects the integrity of the hair fibre, even when used daily. It's inspired by the 'no shampoo' method popular in the US, the cream uses organic hawthorn to protect your hair, leaving it clean, soft & silky. After using it, follow up with the raspberry-scented Rinsing Vinegar* (RRP £11.30) which eliminates limescale and mineral build up, leaving your hair ultra shiny and smooth. Both products are silicone, paraben and sulphate free and are composed of 98% natural ingredients. I've washed my hair using the two products together, my hair was left feeling really clean as I use a lot of styling products in my hair it was good to know the cream & vinegar cleansed my hair & removed build up. I can't stop smelling the Rinsing Vinegar, it's just so fruity & summery!
The Lagoon Hair & Body Wash* (RRP £3.20) from the Monoi de Tahiti range contains organic Aloe, meaning it is gentle enough to be used on the hair as well as the skin. I use it as a shower gel, it has that 'holiday' scent & makes me think of sunshine & sandy beaches! After a shower finish off with the Monoi Precious Dry Oil* (RRP £14.90) which is delicately fragranced with gorgeous golden shimmer pigments to enhance a tan and give you that summer glow. The non-greasy texture is moisturising but also illuminates your skin and is paraben and mineral oil-free. It gives such a nice shimmery glow, I can see this being great to use on a holiday with a sun-kissed tan!
Here is an opportunity to try out the Summer range for yourself, all you need to do is fill out the Rafflecopter form below!
As it's just been payday for me & now I'm not having to save as much each month for our house deposit I look forward to being able to treat myself properly! I've already treated myself to a haircut and neck, shoulder & back massage as pampering myself has gone by the by recently so I'm making more of a conscious effort to take time out, whether thats giving myself 30 minutes to paint my nails or book a treatment at a salon. I did have a rather big splurge last month, I finally bought myself a Kitchenmaid Artisan Mixer, it's technically a house purchase though so it was allowed ;) I've given it a whirl & I'm in love with it, if it's possible to be in love with a kichen appliance anyway... but it's now packed up safely in it's box waiting for our big move in a month or so's time!
I feel like my next big purchase is going to be a bag of some sort, I'm leaning towards a Whistles or Kate Spade one at the moment but I'm still quite undecided so for now I'll keep dreaming until I'm ready to commit! I'll settle with a Kate Spade notebook though, the 'Eat Cake for Breakfast' is literally perfect for me, I'm forever eating cake/chocolate in the morning, oops! Seriously though how dreamy is Kate Spade stationery!? *all of the heart eyed emojis*
Pineapples seem to be the current 'thing' everyone is obsessed with, I have no idea whats so enticing about them but I seem to be drawn to everything with a Pineapple print on! I even purchased ice cube trays in the shape of Pineapples the other day! The brightly coloured PJ set is so cute, wearing short pyjamas in Summer is a must for me & the frill crop top is really sweet. They also scream Summer Holiday to me, if only I had one booked ):
Beauty wise I'm after a new eyebrow product & I've been recommended the Anastasia Dipbrow Pomade, the only problem I have is I don't know what shade to opt for? If anyone has any advice when it comes to choosing a shade please let me know! My friend Abi recently purchased the new Nars All Day Luminous Weightless Foundation & has been raving about it which is really tempting me to get it.
So you know when you say to yourself "oh I'll just pop into Boots to grab some hair dye" and you walk out with a bag full of stuff & your purse £50 lighter!? Yep... I can't seem to restrain myself when it comes to Boots & I know thats quite a common problem with most other beauty bloggers too! I was going to blame the 3 for 2 across all makeup that lured me in & made me cave but I ended up going off course & wandered down most of the aisles, adding things to my basket along the way.
My unexpected haul began at the makeup stands as I "suddenly" remembered that I needed a new liquid liner, which opened my eyes to the 3 for 2 offer so of course I had to take advantage! Before I knew it I had grabbed blushers, foundation, mascara & nail polish, none of which I *really* needed but decided I'd have anyway. I am actually glad I splurged on some new makeup items, makeup is one of the best kinda treats & I am loving the Max Factor Creme Puff Blushes! I also headed over to the haircare aisle in search for a new shampoo & conditioner to try out. I was pretty restrained here & opted for minis rather than full sized! I chose the Toni & Guy Cleanse Shampoo & Conditioner for dry hair along with a bottle of their Sea Salt Texturising spray which I have been obsessed with since getting my hair cut shorter!
This isn't even all of the haul but adding in deodorant, toothpaste & hair dye didn't seem to add anything to the photograph so I took them out! Are you guilty of going into Boots for one thing & coming out with a whole lot more than one item!?
I think this is probably my favourite photo ever, Tilly is in her element!
On the 8th March Tilly Pug turned Two years old & I've been meaning to share her Birthday photos for ages but I took SO many that I just couldn't decide which ones to include! I've finally managed to pick out my favourites (sorry it's still so photo heavy... #pugspam) so whilst she is sleeping next to me I've logged into Blogger to type up this post!
You'll probably know already but I am one crazy Pug lady, Tilly is our little baby & I can't resist spoiling her with toys, treats & cuddles. I can only imagine this is how mothers feel about their human children! We decided to throw Tilly a tea party, so I whipped up a batch of peanut butter & banana pupcakes & filled the table with lots of other doggy treats. I bought pastel coloured party hats & paper plates to give it a real 'party' feel & of course Tilly Pug was more than happy to wear one of the hats! I managed to film a little Instagram video of Tilly excitedly eating her pupcake which I uploaded to her account @tillythepug - she'd love it if you popped over & said hi haha. Tilly was sent Birthday gifts from some of her Pug friends, Ellie & Darcie (@elliedarciepugs) sent the beautiful floral harness she is wearing along with a bandana, the birthday cake plushie that is pictured on the table & some treats and Milo, Angel Dolly & Sophia (@aj_jen_x // @chloeyjx) sent her the cutest little unicorn toy - safe to say Tilly is one lucky little puggy! Having a Pug has provided me with the opportunity to meet so many other pug owners & it's the best thing ever being able to meet up & fuss over all the amazing Pugs whilst chatting about all their funny personalities!
I know I always say this, but I've made a promise to myself to blog more often & stop neglecting this little space so much. I forgot how nice it is to sit down in an evening & type out my thoughts! Hope you've all had a lovely weekend (:
Yves Rocher is a French Makeup brand that are pretty new to me, however after trying out a few of their products around Christmas I was excited to be greeted with another opportunity to give their smoky eye products a whirl!
Achieving a smoky eye I'm proud of is something I'm still working on, I haven't quite mastered the blending technique & figuring out what shade goes in the crease is something that I still have a mini meltdown over when I sit staring at my eyeshadows but hey, they say practice makes perfect so heres hoping! Along my journey to creating a successful smoky eye I've learnt that a primer should never be forgotten & whilst I love my Urban Decay Primer Potion it's nice to switch things up every now & again. The Fixing Eye Primer* is enriched with Camellia Oil, an ingredient which is known to soften skin, providing the primer with smoothing abilities to ensure wrinkles and fine lines are hidden. The formula is a neutral shade to help cover dark circles and create a flawless base for eyeshadow to sit on. I find it softens my eyelids, helping shadows glide on easily and effortlessly but also keeps my eye makeup in place all day long.
Most of my eyeshadows are neutral ones, browns, nudes and taupes so having the Quad Eyeshadow Palette in Deep Grey* is a much needed change. Encased in a beautiful golden compact are four shades, a pearl white, smoky grey, a blue toned grey and matte black. Each shadow is soft to touch & highly pigmented, even the white which I wasn't expecting as they can be quite chalky. If you're after a more intense look the eyeshadows can be used wet, with the shimmer shades turning metallic and the mattes becoming more dense. The palette also has a huge mirror inside making it travel friendly & handy to pop in your handbag to use when you need to touch up your makeup. What I really love about this palette is the mini guide on the back which shows you where each shade can be used, perfect for someone like me who always gets confused!
The newest eye product from Yves Rocher is the 100% Kajal Liner* housed in lipstick style packaging with a crayon-like bullet. With it's creamy, intensely pigmented formula it's easy to apply to both water & tight lines. And, last but not least to complete the smoky eye look lots of of Volume Vertige Mascara* should be applied! The curved brush attaches itself to your lashes It's definitley my new favourite mascara!
Along with Real Techniques make up brushes the Zoeva Rose Golden Brush Set is one of the most raved about sets in the beauty blogging world. After reading so many reviews & lusting over them for ages I finally found them in my Christmas gift pile from Dom who had them shipped over from Germany because all the UK Stockists had sold out (extra boyfriend points to him!) My Real Techniques brushes are looking rather loved now anyway & rather than repurchasing the same ones its nice to try something new.
The Rose Golden Luxury Set is described as "Romantic Copper" which I think is such a pretty way to describe rose gold! There are eight brushes in the set which are made from high quality natural hair or synthetic taklon bristles so they can be used with cream or powder products. The brushes are housed in a clutch style bag, meaning you can chuck them in your handbag knowing they'll be travelling around safely & stylishly!
Christmas was around four months ago now so it's fair to say I've trialled & tested these brushes a whole lot! I've used them on various products & also washed them with different soaps/shampoos so I've had lots of experience using them. My absolute favourite brush of the bunch is the 102 Silk Finish which I've been reaching for every time it comes to apply & blend my foundation. I never thought I'd move on from my RT Buffing/Expert Face brushes but the Silk Finish buffs in every foundation I use really well, it never leaves streaks across my face & because of it's dome shape it's really good for blending excess product in around my nose and hair line areas! It also works well when I apply concealer as it's not a massive brush I can get away with sweeping it under my eyes to cover my dark circles without bristles poking me! Another brush that really stands out to me is the 127 Luxe Sheer Check, I've got nothing like this in my brush collection so I've found it a saviour when it comes to using bronzers & even blushers too. The big fluffy angled bristles are the perfect size for contouring in the hollows of my cheeks & around my forehead without the product looking overloaded or cakey. Theres also a dupe of the MAC 217, known as the 227 Luxe Soft Definer it's pretty much identical & it's so handy that I now have two good quality blending brushes to use when I want to create a smokey eye.
Have you got the Zoeva Rose Gold brushes? Which is your favourite?
After eating too much Chocolate over the past few days I'm currently sitting in bed enjoying a lazy morning with Tilly Pug & Dom sleeping next to me. It's not often we have lazy mornings anymore with alarms going off at 6am, it was nice to wake up naturally for the first time in what feels like forever! I wanted to share the above photo on my blog because I just love it, it's so colourful with the mini eggs, little fluffy chicks & the Daffodils making a sneaky appearance in the corner. I took this little Easter display of chocolate nests round to Doms Aunties for us all to enjoy after our feast at her house. Even though I've had to work some of the Bank Holiday it's been so nice having Dom at home for 4 days, I think 4 day weekends should be a regular occurrence, who's with me!? (:
